The Groundhog Job Shadow Day Public Awareness Guide.
Junior Achievement, Inc., Colorado Springs, CO.; American Society of Association Executives, Washington, DC.; America's Promise: The Alliance for Youth, Alexandria, VA.; National School-to-Work Opportunities Office, Washington, DC.
This guide was created to help community groups create publicity plans and follow through to promote public awareness of Groundhog Job Shadow Day (GJSD) on February 2, 1999. The guide promotes the goal of raising public awareness for the importance of business and education working together to provide hands-on career experiences for students. It suggests ideas for planning activities and working with the media to leverage coverage of GJSD. The first section of the guide contains three sections that cover outreach strategies, countdown to February 2, and basic outreach materials. The second section consists of nine templates that provide samples of the following: pre-GJSD news release, wrap-up GJSD news release, GJSD advisory, request for proclamation letter, proclamation, letter to editor, fact sheet, quote sheet, and radio public service announcements, as well as a list of the members of the GJSD Coalition. (America's Promise, National School-to-Work Opportunities Office, Junior Achievement, and the American Society of Association Executives). Two final sections contain camera-ready articles and camera-ready art. (KC)
