Burke, Edmund J.; Brush, Florence C. – Research Quarterly, 1979
This study describes the endurance capacities and anthropometric characteristics of highly-trained, female, teenaged, distance runners. (MM)
Descriptors: Athletes, Body Height, Body Weight, Females

Tharp, Gerald D.; And Others – Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, 1985
Male volunteers were studied to examine the relationship between the Wingate Anaerobic Test (WAnT) and sprint-run times and to determine the influence of age and weight. Results indicate the WAnT is a moderate predictor of dash and run times but becomes a stronger predictor when adjusted for body weight. (Author/MT)

Milesis, Chris A.; And Others – Research Quarterly, 1976
A relationship is sought between degree of improvement and duration of training sessions--15,30, and 45 minutes. (PBS)

Butts, Nancy Kay – Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, 1982
Percentage of body fat, ratings of perceived exertion, and maximal oxygen consumption were obtained during a continuous running treadmill test on 127 high school female cross country runners. The relatively low relationships between the variables tested and running performance indicated that other factors may be more important determinants of…

Morrow, James R.; And Others – Research Quarterly, 1978
The results of this study suggest that public school physical education programs may not be designed to develop aerobic endurance. (MM)

Seals, Douglas R.; Mullin, John P. – Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport, 1982
The maximal oxygen consumption (VO2 max) of well-trained upper body athletes was compared to that of untrained individuals in four types of exercise: arm cranking, legs only cycling, graded treadmill running, and combined arm cranking and leg cycling. Results of the study showed that well-trained upper body athletes attained a significantly higher…
