Examines problems historically and currently faced by Black athletes involved in intercollegiate sports on predominantly White campuses. Many such students are academically underprepared and face issues such as housing discrimination, social isolation, and demeaning attitudes of coaches and peers. Black college athletes rarely receive experiences that lead to successful nonsport careers. (SM)
