Wert, Frank S.; Henderson, Upton B. – Water and Wastes Engineering, 1978
Discusses the ways in which aquaculture can be a cost-effective wastewater treatment alternative. Fifteen strategies were selected as being appropriate and technologically feasible wastewater treatment systems to compare for the size of community under consideration. Costs for each stage of each strategy were estimated and compared. (Author/MA)

McKenna, Harold J. – Journal of Environmental Education, 1976
This paper looks in detail at the "natural" causes of extinction as compared to the "technological" causes of extermination (abrupt niche-emptying), using examples of species that are both extinct and exterminated. Ways are suggested that can put a halt to extermination. (BT)

Hogan, Kathleen – 1994
Eco-Inquiry may be defined as a "whole science" curriculum that embeds hands-on science within thematic multi-dimensional learning experiences. Three modules for the upper elementary and middle grades focus on food webs, decomposition, and nutrient cycling. Each module lasts 4-7 weeks and may be used alone or in sequence. Student…

Thomas, Bill – Defenders of Wildlife News, 1976
In this third special educational supplement, the swamp is discussed. Included is information on where land and water meet to form the great incubator of wildlife, and on endangered species of wildlife, such as the red wolf, brown pelican, manatee, great white heron and woodstork. (BT)
