A Mobile Program to Provide Mental Health Services to Students of an Inner-City School and Their Families.
Barksdale, Agnes W.
A two-year (1977-1979) program was developed to increase mental health services to students and their families in an inner city school. The counseling supervisor from the school district and the director of a mental health agency developed a mobile mental health program. Students and their families were not always able to go to the agency for needed services, therefore, the agency was brought to them. This practicum describes a two-year effort by which the counseling supervisor implemented the program at a pilot site, the Lehigh Elementary School. During the second year, it was expanded to four additional schools in the district providing needed mental health services to students and their families. (Author)
