Two consecutive and partially overlapping panels measured both maturational and societal changes in the attitudinal and behavioral bases of a double/single-standard of premarital sexual permissiveness. The current and lifetime prevalence of heterosexual cohabitation are examined for 2,510 young men. It would appear that neither cohabitation nor marriage had reached a peak in terms of prevalence among the young men born in the years 1944 through 1954. (Author)
