The economic crisis has caused districts throughout the United States to cut resources and limit spending, particularly with regard to staff. However, the requirements for maintaining safe, efficiently functioning schools and for remaining in compliance with state and federal regulations have not decreased; in many cases, those responsibilities are increasing. Human resource administrators who found it difficult to get everything done before workforce reductions are now faced with the challenge of having to do more with less. To compensate for reduced personnel, some districts are turning to Web-based systems for administrative tasks. The authors share some points that HR administrators should bear in mind when selecting any Web-based automated system.
