Canada, Its Land and People.
Massey, Donald; Connors, Bryan
Eight units which depict the people and geography of Canada are featured in this document. Learning is facilitated through the use of maps, case studies, charts, graphs, sketches, photographs, and drawings which appear throughout the units. To help organize the information four symbols are used to indicate the concepts being explained. The symbol for Landscape indicates information concerning the land, weather and climate, and resources used by people in the area. The symbol for People gives information about people who live in the region, who they are, how they earn a living, and their hopes and fears. The Links symbol indicates information about how places in the community are linked together and how communities are linked with each other. The symbol for Central Places indicates places where people have organized and lived. The units include: "Your Country", "Among Mountains and Valleys", "Over Prairie and Plain", "Across the North", "Onto a Shield of Rock", "Next to the Great Lakes", "What is the Land like along the St. Lawrence River?", and "What is Atlantic Canada." A concluding chapter provides a list of review questions. All illustrations are in color. (APG)
