National Joint Carpentry Apprenticeship Committee, Washington, DC.; Manpower Administration (DOL), Washington, DC. Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training.
The carpentry work standards contained in the guide cover basic requirements for effective apprenticeship and are offered to assist local organizations of contractors and journeymen in establishing local systems of apprenticeship and improving existing systems. Twenty-five items to be considered when adapting national standards to local use are detailed. Federal laws and regulations affecting the employment of apprentices are summarized. The procedures for using joint training funds and for keeping apprenticeship records are briefly outlined. The appendix (21 pages) includes; detailed schedules for work experience and related instruction with recommended texts and reference materials for carpenter, millwright, and cabinetmaker-millman apprentices and for piledriver and interior systems trainees; a sample application for apprenticeship in carpentry; a sample apprenticeship agreement form; a list of regional offices of the Bureau of Apprenticeship and Training; and a list of state and territorial apprenticeship agencies.
