State-trait anxiety and mood states in delinquents were studied by administering the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory for Children and the Profile of Mood States to 41 behavior problem adolescents, residents of a facility for youthful offenders. Responses to the Revised Children's Manifest Anxiety Scale (RCMAS) were factor analyzed with children (N=4972) between 6 and 19 years. Three anxiety factors emerged that were consistent with earlier studies. Factor structure of the RCMAS is for the most part invariant with regard to race and sex. (Author)
