The Wayne-Westland Community School's Title IV, Part A Project is described, documented, and evaluated in this report on its initial year of operation. Project goals are identified as involving: cultural enrichment programs for Native American students in Indian history, treaties, customs, lore, and contemporary issues, art, language; instructional sessions on good grooming and personal hygiene; Indian games; and field trip, emergency service, Saturday and summer school, counseling, and remedial components. Included in this document are: an introduction; project goals; summary of objectives and evaluation methods; project content overviews; floor plan of the Indian Education Center; project administration; problems; activities calendar; community in-service presentations; staff in-service programs; budget, equipment, and materials; district support; dissemination activities; consultant services; evaluation goals and objectives; and concluding comments and recommendations. Evaluation results (derived from pre- and post-tests designed to measure cultural IQ and from attendance, student participation, student achievement, clerical, and accounting records) are presented in terms of each objective and generally reflect overwhelming success in program implementation. The appendices of this document are substantial, including: conferences, workshops, field trips, guest speakers, correspondence and documentation, instructor's resumes and job descriptions, samples of instructional material, and Indian culture survey results.
