Collected data on alcohol practice for Nigerian college students (N=300) in New York. Results were obtained using frequencies and percentages of responses to items relating to drinking practices. Results indicated a high degree of alcohol abuse among Nigerian students in New York. (Author/RC)

Alcohol Abuse: A Case Study of Secondary School Students in a Rural Area of Benin District, Nigeria.

Administered questionnaires defining alcohol practices and reasons for alcohol use to 300 secondary school students in a rural area of Nigeria. Results showed that 71 percent of the students use alcohol. The use and abuse of alcohol among the students was more for social than for psychological reasons. (LLL)

Compared attitudes toward alcoholism in 120 urban secondary school teachers and 105 rural secondary school teachers in Benin District, Nigeria. Results indicated that urban teachers, males, younger teachers, those with higher degrees, and unmarried teachers had less negative attitudes toward alcoholism. (JAC)
