Examined the impact of Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) Ego Strength (Es) level on the relationship between posttreatment alcohol use and MMPI scores in 54 treated alcoholics. Results showed that for the low Es group, the more intensive the alcohol use, the higher the MMPI scores. (JAC)

Inpatients (n=67) treated for alcohol and drug abuse were administered the MMPI (Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory) and Luescher Color Test (LCT). Examined responses of 86 chronic alcoholic males to item 101 of the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI), "I believe women ought to have as much sexual freedom as men." The proportion of responses with "False" was similar to recent normative MMPI data on normal US Midwest males. (Author/KS)

Studied 46 alcoholics one year upon discharge from a residential treatment program based on transactional analysis. Results showed 25 were abstinent and the other 21 were not drinking heavily. Analysis suggested that the abstinent persons had somewhat higher self-esteem and were slightly freer in expression of feelings. (JAC)
