Gounard, Beverley Roberts; Keitz, Suzanne M. – 1975
This study was designed to determine whether adults' memory for pictorial and word stimuli might be differentially affected by age. Twenty female secretaries, median age 22.1, and 20 female members of a senior citizens' center, median age 69.4, were asked to learn lists of pictorial and word stimuli under free recall conditions. Siegel, Linda S. – International Journal of Behavioral Development, 1994
Examined relationships among working memory, memory span, and reading skills in children and adults. Found that working memory and short-term memory skills develop through adolescence, but working memory skills show declines in adulthood. Age-related declines in memory appear to be related to the task's processing demands, which may affect the…

Cole, Michael; And Others – Developmental Psychology, 1971
In three experiments, performance of children in grades ranging from 1 to 9 was investigated in a repeated trials, free recall experiment. Although performance on the accuracy and clustering measures increased with grade, interactions between grade and other independent variables were generally lacking. (Author/WY)

Yussen, Steven R. – Child Development, 1972
Results revealed that (1) relevant verbal experience facilitated learning only for preschoolers, (2) irrelevant verbal experience did not interfere with learning, and (3) visual highlighting exerted no significant effects. (Author/MB)

Ackerman, Brian P. – 1978
This study investigates the role of labeling in developmental increases in picture recall. In two experiments, the memory for pictorial paired-associates of first graders or second graders, fourth graders and adults was evaluated by means of a study-test cued recall procedure. In Experiment 1, the stimulus presentation duration (on-time) and the…
