Three- and five-year olds were tested for recall with anatomically detailed dolls and regular dolls. Subjects were tested with and without visual cues. Anatomically detailed dolls did not foster false reports of abuse. Findings have implications for children's testimony in child abuse cases. (BC)

Examined effects of participation in an event on four and seven year olds' reports of the event. Results showed that participation lowered susceptibility to suggestion. Older children were less suggestible about actions that took place. Children showed high resistance to suggestions about actions that might be associated with abuse. (SH)

Children of three to five years who had not been sexually abused were exposed to anatomical dolls. The three- to four-year-old age group showed an increased awareness of sexual body parts, while the older group did not. A telephone survey of 1,019 Chinese Hong Kong households found families showed slightly lower rates of minor violence than U.S. families, but higher rates of severe violence toward children.
