The Action Coalition to Create Opportunities for Retirement with Dignity (ACCORD) suggests an approach through which adult educators might make a significant contribution toward senior citizens' own education and toward community education by helping individuals to understand and act on their own life situations and a community's social concern.…

Contending that both work and leisure--within the individual's life and within society--may be perceived as functioning together in an abstract symbiotic or syndetic relationship, the author focuses on leisure time after retirement and the role adult education can play in solving related problems. The development and implementation of the Georgia Center for Continuing Education's pre-retirement planning program is described. The program (available statewide) consists of eight educational television programs dealing with various aspects of retirement planning and seminar's using team teaching to reinforce the televised programs.
