Apprenticeship outreach programs operating in some 100 cities with Federal funding were set up to help women enter apprentice and preapprentice training for nontraditional jobs. Although experience has shown that women are interested if jobs are opened to them and can become qualified, their numbers in apprenticeships remain low and discrimination is still evident. (MF)
