The report contains 15 chapters on the following topics: (1) state progress on academic performance indicators; (2) student performance on state assessments; (3) performance of students at risk of dropping out of school; (4) students in disciplinary alternative education settings; (5) secondary school graduates and dropouts; (6) grade-level retention of students; (7) district and campus performance in meeting state accountability standards; (8) status of the curriculum; (9) charter schools and waivers; (10) school district expenditures and staff hours used for direct instructional activities; (11) district reporting requirements; (12) Texas Education Agency (TEA) funds and expenditures; (13) performance of open-enrollment charters in comparison to school districts; (14) character education programs; and (15) student health and physical activity.
