The purpose of this study was to investigate how WebQuests can be used in physics classes for teaching specific concepts. The study had three stages. The first stage was to develop a WebQuest on Newton's second law. The second stage involved developing a lesson plan to implement the WebQuest in class. In the final stage, the WebQuest was implemented in two different classes at different times in the same high school in Sydney. A total of 44 students (20 from one and 24 from another) participated in the study which took two class sessions. Results of this study have been analysed qualitatively. The results showed that the WebQuest-based instruction worked in class, in that some students engaged effectively and produced creative posters, however, contrary to the literature, some students were not engaged in doing the WebQuest.
