Chemicals from Cradle to Grave
Science Scope, v28 n7 p50-51 Apr-May 2005
About two years ago, an urban school district had planned for the disposal of some hazardous chemicals. It contracted with a chemical recycling company that was considered to be reputable. The school district, along with several other companies, was charged and fined by the Environmental Protection Agency for improperly releasing hazardous chemicals into the environment. The recycling company had simply dumped the chemicals with their containers in a local river. This article discusses the proper purchase, storage, use, and disposal of chemicals.
