In this art activity gifted students, ages 10 to 13, learn about internal and external rhythms and make a painting of an internal rhythm. The lesson can be expanded with a discussion of Kandinsky, Pollock, and other painters who have painted sound or have demonstrated rhythms. (RM)

Describes a unit of study for gifted, upper-elementary students based on field trips to the "Personal Spaces, Personal Places" exhibit at the Delaware Art Museum. Students explored their own personal spaces, imagined new ones, examined the use of space in paintings, and designed puppets to live in the exhibit. (AM)
