Unsworth, Jean Mormon – School Arts, 1983
"Alice in Deutschland" was the theme of an Elementary Arts Methods course for American teachers in Germany. Teachers constructed persons, places, and things in their German environment from a variety of mediums, allowed children to interact with the artwork, and planned a 10-lesson classroom curriculum. When the informal workshop system was substituted for a traditionally structured arts and crafts course in a secondary school for military dependents in Germany, the class flourished. Instead of many small projects completed within fixed time periods, each student worked on a major project at his/her own pace. (RM)
