Education and Ideology
Ivashevskii, S. L.
Russian Education and Society, v53 n6 p42-48 Jun 2011
These days politicians and scientists refer to the importance of consensus for understanding society's new ideological need, but the path to consensus is difficult. Political differences account for the wide variety of approaches to the problem. The United Russia Party supports a "conservative European" ideology, while the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (CPRF) prefers a socialist ideology, and the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) advocates a patriotic orientation. Instead of analyzing these differences, it would be more productive to find common values and goals that can unify Russian society. In this article, the author suggests that an alternative approach to shaping the ideology of today's Russia could be to create an ideology of "neo-enlightenment" based on the values of the educational culture in Russian society.
