Parent's Perceptions of Effective Treatments and Educational Interventions for Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD)
Carmen Tontillo
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Concordia University Chicago
Since the mid-90s, the number of children treated for bipolar disorder has increased considerably. As a result, the diagnosis was considered more closely, and the DSM-5 proposed a new diagnosis: Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder (DMDD). This is a relatively new diagnosis in the psychological community, causing a lack of agreement on treatment options, both medically and in educational settings. This study provides perspectives from a parent view on what has been effective and what has not been effective for treatment at home and interventions in school.
