Viewpoint: Campus Sustainability Is Creating New Planners and a Better Campus-Wide Understanding of the Need for Integrated Planning
Calhoun, Terry P.
Planning for Higher Education, v39 n2 p48-50 Jan-Mar 2011
Over the past decade, the growth of widespread understanding and implementation of sustainability principles on college and university campuses has been astounding. In this article, the author notes a few of the more powerful forces behind this effort and suggests that these forces have created new opportunities for the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP) and its members. These opportunities result from the emergence of a cadre of new planning leaders on campus and the beginning of an acceptance among a broader set of campus constituents of the need for integrated planning across departmental boundaries.
