The Copernican Plan and Year-Round Education.
Gee, William D.
Phi Delta Kappan, v78 n10 p793-96 Jun 1997
Combining the Copernican Plan (a block-schedule variation) and year-round schooling may make both proposals more palatable to the general public. Since the plan leaves facilities, teacher contracts, and current budgets virtually unchanged, serious public resistance is unlikely. Principals should first introduce Copernican scheduling and then use the plan's success to initiate the "45/15 plan" (year-round rotation of 45 in-class days/15 vacation days). (10 references) (MLH)
