Beaty, David T. – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1980
The case of a 15-year-old stutterer is presented to illustrate A. Lazarus's multimodal behavior therapy model, proposed to integrate various procedures. A combination of role playing, metronome use, biofeedback training, and assertion training was used. (CL)

Ladouceur, Robert; And Others – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1981
Sixteen adult stutterers were randomly assigned to one of two groups: awareness training plus regulated-breathing or Azrin and Nunn's regulated-breathing method only. Manschreck, Theo C.; And Others – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1980
Eight chronic adult stutterers underwent an electromyographic (EMG) biological feedback training program to reduce masseter muscle tension in an effort to improve fluency. All subjects mastered the program within 10 30-minute sessions. Measures of muscle tension and fluency indicated improvements that were maintained three to six months later.…

St. Louis, Kenneth O.; And Others – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1982
Using comparative speech tasks and EMG recordings to assess the potential of EMG biofeedback-assisted relaxation to reduce stuttering, a preschool child was able to reduce larynegeal tension but not without some difficulty. The small effect of the training was in the direction of less stuttering. (Author/CM)

Fitzgerald, Hiram E.; And Others – Perceptual and Motor Skills, 1979
The effects of a parent administered home therapy program of verbal stimulation used to treat articulatory deficits were investigated with 32 inarticulate elementary school age retarded children in Yugoslavia. Treatment was found to be associated with an increase in articulatory competence in both moderately and profoundly retarded Ss. (Author/DLS)
