Building Sinusoids
Landers, Mara G.
Mathematics Teacher, v106 n8 p592-598 Apr 2013
In this article, the author describes the development and implementation of a measurement-based group activity designed to support students in understanding the connection between angle magnitude and the shape of the sine function. She explains that the benefit of this activity is that it allows students to build their trigonometric knowledge actively through a hands-on experience. She closes the article by stating: "If we want students to develop deep understanding of functions in general and trigonometric functions in particular, then this type of activity should be an essential part of the curriculum."
