Eleven medical students were followed through their first two years of medical school. Career development indices (career planning, exploration, decision making, occupational information) accounted for significant amounts of variance in the prediction of success beyond that of academic indices (grade point average, test scores). The present study was designed to assess effects of career education on career maturity and consider sex differences. The career education program again, as in 1975, had a positive effect in increasing students' levels of career maturity. Examined the relationships between students' level of consistency in choosing a major in college and their persistence, stability, and achievement in a five-year follow-up. It was found that consistent students tend to persist in college, not to change majors, and that they have higher achievement than inconsistent students. (Author)

Using Super's Career Pattern Study data, this study investigated the high-school age correlates of occupational stability and change among 148 men between the ages of 25 to 35.
