Findings indicated that the high degree of homogeneity of party preferences between spouses is due both to assortive mating and to influences of each spouse upon the other. The research reported here explores the development of diffuse support among adolescents for those types of political authorities who have a high degree of public contact. Findings indicate respondents from three social levels have relatively optimistic expectations about treatment and with few exceptions, recall fair treatment. (JB)
