The interview was conducted in a uniformly structured manner by 14 interviewers of 260 applicants to a training program in internal medicine. Each applicant received an interview score that resulted in quantifiable data to be used in evaluating the applicants. (Author/LBH)

A peer tutorial program in the basic sciences implemented at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston is evaluated. The grades of students receiving peer tutorials were analyzed and questionnaires were mailed to each participant soliciting their evaluation of services received. A gross anatomy program was evaluated that shortened the dissection time on the extremities by having half the class dissect either the upper or lower extremity and then study the opposite extremity already dissected by other classmates. Analysis of covariance showed that the program efficiently utilized laboratory time. (MLW)
