The staff of the University of Colorado Child Health Associate Program critically reviewed the effectiveness of the program's structure and content during an intensive two-day seminar. Focus was on basic and clinical sciences, psychosocial skills, and proficiency testing, and the evaluations were used to improve the program. (Editor/LBH)

Traditionally, nurse practitioners and physician's assistants have been trained separately. In l977, the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at the University of California, Davis, and the Primary Care Associate Program at Stanford University merged clinical curricula. Findings indicate that students with previous clerkships gain no significant advantage upon entering the Basic Medicine Clerkship over those without clerkship experience. It was also concluded it was not necessary to modify the objectives of the clerkship for those with previous clerkship experience. (Author/PG)

A matched comparison group design was utilized to determine the value of a special summer education health career experience to attract minority students to health careers. Results show a significant difference on stability of first career choice, indicating that such a program can and does have an effect. (Editor/JT)

An experimental program to provide decentralized training and certification for Utah's physician's assistants unable to leave their own communities is evaluated. Original program goals were met, but it was learned that the methodology is inefficient and the program requires more teaching time than most physicians can contribute. (MSE)
