A study of career paths of 436 men and 162 women faculty revealed that relatively fewer women than men held full-time positions 10 years after initial appointment or had advanced to a senior position. Due to enrollment trends and competition for promotion, the current imbalance is unlikely to change in the near future. (MSE)
