Devon, Richard – Engineering Education, 1985
Engineers in industry were surveyed to identify what they think are important skills to emphasize in the general engineering curriculum. Results, based on 62 questionnaires (100 were mailed), are presented and discussed. One finding is that industry highly values reasoning and communication skills in addition to engineering skills. A survey of the graduates from bachelor of technology programs at one institution indicates that they were adequately trained for their technical positions in industry. Their job assignments were very similar to those of B.S. graduates in engineering, and very different from those of the associate degree graduates. (MLH)

Attempts to identify the positions available to Bachelor of Engineering Technology (B.E.T.) graduates. A survey of B.E.T. graduates showed that they are being employed in responsible positions by industry and that most are receiving job assignments comparable to those given engineering graduates.
