Working with Immigrant Families in Times of Crisis
Garibay, Montserrat
Educational Leadership, v77 n4 p53-57 Dec 2019-Jan 2020
Educators should take care to make all students, especially immigrant students, feel safe and welcomed in their schools. Garibay outlines several ways that educators can build relationships with their immigrant students and their families, including home visits, informative community talks, providing know-your-rights information, and advocating when worst-case-scenarios happen. She also makes a case for why this advocate work and relationship-building is so important and necessary.
