Newland, Carlos
Education Economics, v2 n3 p277-86 1994
The privatization of public schools in Buenos Aires during the mid-1800s provides a case to test the functioning of educational markets and the relationship between private and public education supply. Private education in Buenos Aires developed within a favorable framework from 1820 to 1860. Privatization produced a competitive environment that encouraged educational diversity.
