The use of prediction equations can shorten the length of time necessary for testing shorthand skill, thus allowing more time for skill building. By administering one shorthand dictation test, it is possible to predict a person's skill at higher speeds and for longer periods of time. (KP)

The Relationship Between Typewriting Performance and Shorthand Transcription Skills

Relationships between straight-copy typing and shorthand transcription and between production typing and shorthand transcription were studied using data gathered from seventy-three shorthand students. Results of the correlation analyses showed few significant relationships, indicating that transcription skills are unique. (MF)
