This study obtained a tentative assessment of the impact on college students of being involved in a decision-making process. This study surveyed 363 undergraduate students to determine the extent that introductory courses affected their selection of majors, minors, and career goals. The results indicated a significant relationship between an instructor perceived by students as better than average in teaching an introductory course and the selection of a major. (Author)

A group of students were matched on the basis of compatible birth order; another was matched on the basis of conflicting birth order. This paper finds that, in general, college students give lower ratings to professors with whom they have normative dissonance. It suggests that dissonance should be given more consideration, raising the possibility of "matching" students and professors. This would also increase the objectivity of student evaluations. In-fashion versus out-of-fashion and concealing versus exposing were clothing dimensions most salient to differentiating teaching style groups. Student teachers were video-taped in teaching situations and their behavior was coded to determine the relative cognitive or affective emphasis of their teaching.
