An instrument was administered to 104 elementary education majors. Findings include that subjects: (1) recognize that the problem of child abuse exists; (2) believe most teachers are not equipped to deal with child abuse, but expect victims of abuse in their classrooms; and (3) lack a clear understanding of referrals. This study attempted to determine the effectiveness of the use of radio equipment as a means of providing immediate feedback to student counselors. A questionnaire was administered to 419 university freshmen and results were compared with previous freshmen. Results indicate that more freshmen have tried marijuana than in previous years but there are fewer regular users. Males had a higher incidence of use of marijuana, while females reported a higher incidence of speed use. (Author)
