A follow-up study of teacher education graduates (N=160) was conducted to determine the nature of their current employment. Teacher education graduates simultaneously sought academic and nonacademic employment. The study supports a growing contention that teacher education programs are a liberal arts option with a vocational choice. (Author)

This research examined whether the "will to manage" is diminishing by use of the instrumentality theory of motivation. Measures of outcome importance and the instrumentality of a managerial career in attaining the outcomes were determined. Results supported the hypothesis that the "will to manage" is declining. The prediction of level of post-high-school educational choice was investigated using the theme scores of the Strong Vocational Interest Blank, sex and achievement level as predictors. The galvanic skin responses of ten seniors currently completing student teaching assignments and ten freshmen with no prior special education work were measured to neutral, low and high arousal special education words. Articles (N = 61) in major sociological journals were analyzed for content and method of sampling. The findings show that females are underrepresented in studies on the formation of college plans. Students enrolled in a basic speech course or an advanced interviewing course were administered a Platz Q-Sort to measure communicator self-concept.
