College Students' Reasons for Drinking: Twenty Year Trends

Data concerning drinking motivations from a sample of 3,696 students from 37 colleges and universities throughout the U.S. were compared with such data from a comparable sample of students conducted twenty years earlier. It was found that the percentage of drinkers who use alcohol for reasons associated with its sedative properties has decreased. (Author)
