Integrating iPads into Early Childhood Classrooms
Lee, Boh Young
Childhood Education, v99 n3 p58-65 2023
Computers, laptops, digital tablets, and whiteboards are all commonly used technologies in classrooms today. The COVID-19 pandemic led to an increased use of digital technology to offer virtual learning and maintain social connections. Given the multifaceted nature of technology, the complexities of child development, and the increasing availability of technology available and used by young children, there is a need to explore effective developmentally appropriate practices and strategies for using technology in early childhood classrooms in order to meet young children's development and learning needs. This article reports on a study regarding technology use in early childhood classrooms, examining how teachers working with young children under age 5 use iPads in their classrooms and determining how the use of iPads influences young children's learning and development.
