A Report to the U.S. Department of Education on Educational Challenges and Technical Assistance Needs for the Southeast Region
CNA Corporation
In response to a directive from the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Education (ED), the Southeast Regional Advisory Committee (SE RAC) provides an assessment of the technical assistance needs of educators in the Southeast Region. This RAC is one of 10 such committees appointed by the Secretary to conduct an education needs assessment over the period of December 2004 through March 2005. The committee, which includes members from the states of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, and South Carolina first identified the major challenges facing the region in improving student achievement and in implementing the provisions of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act. It then assessed the types of technical assistance that might enable educators in the region to overcome these challenges. Appended is: Outreach Activities in the Southeast Region. A glossary is also included. [Report prepared by the Southeast Regional Advisory Committee.]
