Muffo, John A. – CAUSE/EFFECT, 1989
The results of a study at Virginia Tech which has a recent history of decentralized computing, are reported. The advantage of increased control in the decentralized environment was offset by the lack of experience in planning for computing at the academic and administrative operating levels. (Author/MLW)
Descriptors: College Administration, Computer Centers, Computers, Decentralization
CAUSE/EFFECT, 1985
A major change is underway at the University of Michigan as a new telecommunications network is being installed to become the central focus for information technology on the campus as voice communication, mainframe, minicomputer, and microcomputer installations all become part of the network. (MLW)
Descriptors: Case Studies, College Administration, Computers, Data Processing
Lilly, Judy L. – CAUSE/EFFECT, 1985
Virginia Tech reorganized its computing and communications activities under a Vice President for Computing and Information Systems. Changes include integration of all voice and data communications activities. The mission, rationale, and goals for the Communications Network Services organization are discussed. (Author/MLW)
