A national survey of State supervisors of office education was conducted to determine the effectiveness of their laboratory programs. Overall findings revealed that the laboratory program is a viable and reliable method of instruction and will continue to be used in the future. Specific findings are summarized in this article. The need for high school instruction in electronic data processing and computers and the need for preservice and inservice education of high school teachers to teach data processing are examined, with suggestions for business educators on initiating better data processing training programs for themselves and for their students.
