Musante, Linda; Treiber, Frank A.; Davis, Harry C.; Thompson, William O.; Waller, Jennifer L. – Assessment, 1999
Findings related to internal consistency, temporal stability, and principal components structures suggest that the Anger Expression Scale (C. Spielberger and others, 1985) and the Pediatric Anger Expression Scale (G. Jacobs and others, 1989), studied with a sample of 415 youth with a mean age of 14.7 years are acceptably reliable. (SLD)

Livingston, Ronald B.; Gray, Robert M.; Haak, Ruth A. – Assessment, 1999
Examined the internal consistency of three tests from the Halstead-Reitan Neuropsychological Battery (R. Reitan and D. Wolfson, 1992) with a sample of 334 children, 9 to 14 years of age. Gives reliability coefficients for the Seashore Rhythm Test, two forms of the Speech Sounds Perception Test, and the Aphasia Screening Test. (SLD)

Berning, Lisa C.; Weed, Nathan C.; Aloia, Mark S. – Assessment, 1998
To examine the interrater reliability of the Ruff Figural Fluency Test (RFFT) (R. Ruff, 1988), 124 college students completed the measure and scored RFFT test protocols. Results indicated substantial interscorer reliability on the RFFT, particularly for number of unique designs. Reliability was lower for scoring perseverative errors and error…

The Wide Range Achievement Test-Revised and the Woodcock Reading Mastery Tests-Revised were administered twice to 269 current drug abusers over an average time interval of 204.2 days. Overall, the study demonstrates that the two instruments have strong psychometric properties and that results from current drug abusers are reliable. (SLD)

Mills, Jeremy F.; Kroner, Daryl G.; Forth, Adelle E. – Assessment, 1998
The reliability and validity of the Novaco Anger Scale (NAS) (R. Novaco, 1994) were studied with 204 male correctional offenders admitted for general or violent offenses. Results show the NAS to be an effective measure of anger in an offender population. Results also support the validity of a computerized version of the NAS. (SLD)

Paolo, Anthony M.; Axelrod, Bradley N.; Troster, Alexander I. – Assessment, 1996
Eighty-seven normal older people were administered the Wisconsin Sorting Test on two occasions averaging over a year apart. There were average retest gains of 5 to 7 standard score points. The standard error of prediction, standard error of difference, and abnormal test-retest discrepancy scores were calculated for clinical use. (SLD)

The Response to Conflict Scale, a 24-item measure of maladaptive responses to marital conflict, was evaluated psychometrically with 420 couples. The inventory showed high internal consistency, test-retest reliability, construct and discriminant validity, and classification efficiency. Clinical utility is discussed. (SLD)

Lyons, Antonia C.; Spicer, John – Assessment, 1999
Developed a measure of conversational experience and comfort, the Speaking Extent and Comfort Scale (SPEACS). Results with 400 undergraduates show that all four SPEACS subscales have good test-retest reliability and internal consistency. Discusses use of the measure in studies of social networks, social experience, and other dimensions of…

Siegel, Don J.; Piotrowski, Richard J. – Assessment, 1994
Reliability of subtest composites corresponding to 46 abilities and influences presented by Kaufman (1979) was examined for the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children using standardization sample data (ages 6, 11, and 16). Increasing composite reliability was associated with the number of subtests and inclusion of Verbal Scale subtests in the…

Development of an alternate form of Raven's Standard Progressive Matrices Test is described. Reliability analysis with 449 children of differing racial/ethnic backgrounds showed good reliability and comparable predictive validity. The alternate form is a promising research tool. (SLD)

Psychometric support for the use of the Los Angeles Symptom Checklist (LASC), a self-report measure of posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), was provided by a study involving 639 high-risk adolescents. The LASC had appropriate levels of reliability and appeared to detect distress and PTSD as a function of trauma exposure. (SLD)

Greve, Kevin W.; And Others – Assessment, 1995
Interset and set-to-total correlations for the California Card Sorting Test were studied for 135 college students and 63 elementary school students. Although subsets were not equivalent, the generally good correlations between subset and total test scores indicated that use of the individual subsets as short forms is justified. (SLD)
