A parent's viewpoint regarding speed tests on basic division is presented. The parent questioned the value and necessity of the division testing and felt it was more important that his daughter know when to divide, rather than learn skills that can be done more rapidly and accurately on calculators. Games are promoted as useful tools that can become an integral part of the mathematics curriculum. Advantages to students and teachers are noted. Guidelines for the construction of games are provided and ways of incorporating games into a mathematics program are discussed. Active child involvement is seen as fundamental. (MP)
