Female bulimic inpatients (N=24) were randomly assigned to massage therapy or standard treatment group. Massaged patients showed immediate reductions in anxiety and depression; additional improvements were noted by the last day of therapy. Massage therapy is shown to be effective as an adjunct treatment for bulimia. (Author/EMK)

Reports findings on factors associated with children who terminate psychotherapy prematurely. From a sample of 45 children with an average age of 13.5 years, it was found that children are more likely to remain in treatment if the therapist is perceived as professional and caring, and if the treatment plan is adequately explained.
