Assessing Medical Students' Perceptions of Mistreatment in Their Second and Third Years.
Richardson, David A.; Becker, Marilyn; Frank, Robert R.; Sokol, Robert J.
Academic Medicine, v72 n8 p728-30 Aug 1997
Survey of Wayne State University (Michigan) 542 medical students found significantly more third-year than second-year students reporting personal experience of mistreatment or discrimination. Students specializing in family medicine reported the lowest rates of mistreatment, those in obstetrics/gynecology and surgery the highest. Perception also varied by gender and race/ethnicity. Nonwhite males reported the least favorable treatment. (Author/MSE)
