Pedagogical Leadership: High School Principals' Influence on Teacher Practice

Leadership at the high school level provide a unique challenge due to size and complexity. The study examines how successful principals, confront the necessity to support teachers as they grow their craft in thoughtful and deliberate ways. The study provides insight into the relationship between instructional and transformational leadership practices focused on innovative pedagogical practice. Using key elements from both leadership models, the study examines ways in which principals enact the proposed pedagogical leadership dimensions. Findings are used to refine the conceptual framework. In a time where high schools need to be adaptive to the fast pace of the knowledge driven world, this study provides insight into effective leadership practices of high school principals focused on innovative pedagogy.
